So. A little bit of background on this — I’ve watched the first episode, and the specific scene in the precinct, many, many times. And I’ve come to the conclusion that Reese, being familiar with this kind of thing, wrapped his hand around that cup and gave Carter his prints on purpose. He watched her take it away and he knew what she was going to do. And I’m pretty damned sure he knew when his prints hit the system, people all over the place would come out of the woodwork to get him.
That was the ‘more efficient way’ he was contemplating — he’d planned on drawing all of those groups who might be hunting him in, and going out in a blaze of gory.
Of course, he hadn’t expected to meet a reclusive billionaire and find a reason to live — and now his original plan is coming back to bite them both on the ass…
I have always believed, ever since watching that scene for the first time, that he knew she was getting his prints off that cup, but simply didn’t care. I had forgotten about that line though, and now I think you may be right.
